4 Tips On How To Be More Body Positive & Confident No Matter Your Size

You’ve done your research on body positivity and you want to learn how to better implement this into your life. I like you already.

But diet culture is strong ya’ll. Everyone is always talking about the new way to lose 15 lbs and how to get ‘summer bod ready’. What hours of the day you should eat or if you eat only chicken and beans you should be good to go?

But that doesn’t mean that is all that is out there.

You can be happy, loved, confident, beautiful, strong, empowered, free, unashamed, and more at any fucking size.

BTW I want to remind you I am by no means a doctor, nutritionist, or even remotely qualified to give you diet, physical health, or eating advice. This is solely focused on your mental health and empowerment in how you see yourself. So only trust me with that stuff. The inside the brain stuff.

1: Think in terms of abundance not lack.

Remind yourself all of the wonderful things that your body does for you and thank it. May sound hella cheesy but being grateful for what we have (our abundance) and choosing to focus on that will allow your brain to re-hardwire and pull more positive.

2: Good People

Easier said than done (and trust me, I get that, but work towards this). Surround yourself with that are building you up and offering love, support, and happiness. When we are ‘body positive’ it is likely we’ll run into a many a people who want to give suggestions on how to lose the weight or be healthier or this and that. Instead look for the person that is willing to listen to understand. Not shame. I am a proud advocate of surrounding yourself with “You Do You” people. The person that gives advice when it is requested, not of their own accord.

And remember it is okay to set boundaries and let the people in your life know what is helpful and what isn’t.

3: Cut Back on Social Media

I am a HUGE supporter of spending your time in the world, not on your devices. But I get it, not everyone is the same as me. So if you are a big social media’er try doing a cleanse from it every now and then. Take a day, week, month off.

When you are on social media remind yourself it is ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST that people show. That. is. not. everything.

If you catch yourself comparing, envying, upset, get off of it. Immediately. And remind yourself of five wonderful things about yourself. I am not joking. Do it.

4: Self Care, BABAAAYYYY

I pretty much include this in every blog post because its that important.

Do something nice for yourself and your body. Take a bath, nap, face-mask. Watch a good night of TV. Get a massage. Go on a walk. Cuddle your dog. Go on a friend date.

We need to allow ourselves to be cared for and loved and that starts with us. You’re amazing. You deserve good things. You’re a boss ass bitch that can crush whatever is in front of you with self love.
